DRY SKIN ON HANDS

Extremely dry skin can be a warning sign of a skin problem called dermatitis 
Hand skin is unique because it's so thick, which means it's also slow to heal. Plus you have to use your hands all day long, even when they are chapped. To heal your hard-working, chapped, cracked, dry, and painful hands, you need the best products for the job and your products need to work synergistically to repair and prevent dry hands.

RECOMMENDATION 1- hemp hand oil and or hemp hand protector from the Bodyshop
This daily hand oil provides targeted, long-lasting hydration for areas of very dry skin. It is dermatologically tested and contains hemp seed oil.
RECOMMENDATION 2 Avon silicone glove hand cream.A skin-softening formula that helps protect against dryness. Continual and lasting gel protection against skin irritants. Locks in moisture, blocks out dryness.

RECOMMENDATION 3

Pure coconut oil. This stuff is magic for skin because of its unique combination of fatty acids. Apply it directly onto skin and wear gloves for the best results.

AT HOME HOT OIL HAND TREATMENT

1 tablespoon of olive oil

1/2 teaspoon of almond extract (optional)

2 small plastic bags

(or plastic gloves if you have access to them)

METHOD:

• 1.  Put the olive oil ( from pharmacy/supermarket)  in a small bowl and heat in the microwave until warm (about 30 seconds).  You want the oil warm, but not so hot that it would burn your hands.  Stir in the almond extract if desired.  (it makes it smell really good), can also use almond oil.
  3.  Dip hands in the oil until it cools down, you can also reheat and do process again. Then,put the plastic bags or plastic gloves on your hands and leave them on for about 10 minutes.
• 2.  Rub the oil on your hands, paying special attention to massaging it into the cuticles and any other dry areas.

GOOD TO KNOW

* Keep a hand cream by the sink so you can use it after washing hands or doing dishes

* scrub hands with a mealie meal,brown sugar andaqueous cream scrub before doing your hot oil treatment for a complete at home spa treat.rub before doing your hot oil treatment for a complete at home spa treat.

* posh as it may seem... do wear gloves when doing dishes, your hands will thank you for it.Avoid formulas with synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and sulfates, as these are all drying. Foaming and antibacterial types are also likely to strip your skin of its own natural fats and oils. Choose moisturizing cleansers instead, and be sure you rinse thoroughly.

(M.O.M) MILK OF MAGNESIA

Primer ??? We think not!!!

 

So people are raging on about using M.O.M as a primer and the rest of us blindly follow…

 M.O.M's basic use is as a laxative, of course some M.UA's use it as an emergency primer but that doesn’t pass it off as an everyday primer. In the end it can do more harm than good.

                                  Here’s why....                                                    

WHAT IS IT??

Magnesium hydroxide suspended in +water +sodium hypochlorite (Bleach). 

1.          An anti-acid, meaning its alkaline

Makes sure the hydrochloric acid does not get to your nerves (gastro-intestinal ones) THEREFORE haurwadziwe.

2.          A laxative

Remember OSMOSIS in secondary school? “The magnesia ions formed after the OH- groups pop off aren't absorbed by your intestinal tract, leaving you with a high concentration of magnesium ions. Osmosis, at its most basic, is a movement of water from areas with low concentrations of ions to areas with high concentrations of ions. Thus, the magnesium pulls fluid into the intestines. Your colon responds by dumping its contents, triggering you to dump yours.” And you feel better again!!!

 

SO WHY DO WE USE IT ON OUR OH SOOOO PRETTY FACES

Yep that’s the major reason! As much as you may want to deny it. We rely on net and hearsay more than professionals. Maybe because of the $$$ attached to seeing a professional but in the long run you will need one when the damage come-a-knocking! So let’s deal with it now.

M.O.M DOES DEGREASE OUR FACES because it breaks down wax esters and steryl esters found on our skin. I do not dispute the fact that it will keep makeup on for longer, seeing as oil will be eliminated. Take into consideration that the skin itself “sends” more oil to the front when it feels dry so you are fighting a losing battle if you haven’t delt with your diet and lifestyle. It is temporary.

Your skin PH should be about 5.5   M.OM’s is 10.5!!!!! You still think this is a good idea. Altering anything’s PH always causes a reaction!! Once you alter your skin’s PH you have also changed the atmosphere to fight off bacteria, so the pimples will come. Your skin already has what we call the ACID MANTLE which fights off bacteria, viruses and any other nasties. So keeping the skin’s PH as close to 5.5 as possible means that layer effectively does its job. However when your pour some alkalinity in the form of M.OM you destroy that acid mantle so your skin is FREE TO ALL!!! It is now a bacteria’s wonderland!!!it leaves the skin at a basic pH. This alone causes dermatitis in some people. In most, an alkaline pH interferes with desquamation (shedding), which in turn encourages bacterial proliferation and more dermatitis

Soo IN THE LONG RUN….

1.          ACNE

2.          DERMATITIS

Using it once in a very long while as an emergency primer may be ok but frequent use does more damage than good. Get a good primer, formulated for use on skin!!!

I personally do use Calamine Lotion when I need long wearing makeup and have run out of primer. Another school of thought recommends using MOM  instead as a DEODORANT the underarm area can get pretty sweaty and moist, which can create the perfect environment for bacteria and fungi to thrive in. Therefore, if a high ph. can increase the risk of a bacterial infection, the loss of sweat can reduce it. In other words, in this case, and this case only, the benefits of MOM are greater than its side effects.

You've probably heard this debate before on a facebook group or such. there's one who says "i swear by it " and the other lady moaning how it doesn't work and is jus another scam by companies to suck our hard earned cash.fair enough!normally the later has a bank balance of ..well NIL!

i'm here to say only when you are faithful to a product does it really give you rewards.
